Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro are collaborative artists based in Sydney and Berlin. Their work is characterized by the playful reinvention of prefabricated structures and the transformation of everyday objects into extraordinary sculptures and installations. While the work creates memorable and often playful images, it also broaches concerns relevant to people’s daily lives, such as the cost of living, problems of overpriced real-estate, the need for space, consumerism, human-made disasters and the desire for things to be better in the future than they are today.
Cordeiro and Healy’s work has appeared throughout Europe, Asia and Australia, including at the 53rd Venice Biennial. Recent projects have included a solo museum exhibition, Are We There Yet?, at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in D.C. as well as two solo exhibitions at Gallery Wendi Norris. In 2012, Healy and Cordeiro’s work was the subject of a retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
