Gallery Wendi Norris is pleased to present its first IN THE WINDOW commission by gallery artist, Ranu Mukherjee.
"Beam" is Mukherjee's first neon work, and takes her delicate and abstracted drawing practice off the page. Inspired by a collapsed, confederate statue in Durham, North Carolina that was reported widely across news and social media in 2017, the work -- a part of the artist's ongoing "Shadowtime" series -- evokes the power of individual bodies and voices in collective action. The work's title, "Beam", alludes to the illuminated nature of the material and the metaphorical hope associated with light.
